Jeff Maiorca arrested in California cold case murder

Jeff Anthony Maiorca, 53, has been arrested on murder charges in connection with the death of his wife, Jill Maiorca, whose remains were discovered beneath a cabin near Big Bear Lake, California.

Jill Maiorca, who was 29 at the time of her death, was believed to have been killed in November 2006, though she was not reported missing until 2007. Her remains were discovered in October 2020 by a cabin owner who found them in storage boxes within a residential crawlspace. Due to severe decomposition, the victim could not be identified immediately.

The case remained cold until the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department utilized advanced DNA testing to confirm the identity of the remains. Following this identification, investigators arrested Jeff Maiorca on September 21 at a local library. He is currently being held at the High Desert Jail in Adelanto without bail and faces both first and second-degree murder charges, including enhancements for the use of a deadly weapon.
