Jefferson Brenes transfers from Saprissa to Indonesia's Bhayangkara

Costa Rican midfielder Jefferson Brenes is leaving Deportivo Saprissa to join Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC in the Indonesian first division. The transfer follows a complex negotiation process, as Saprissa was initially reluctant to release the player due to his key role in the team’s current season and participation in the Copa Centroamericana.

The deal is reported to exceed $300,000, driven by a significant economic proposal from the Indonesian club. Brenes, 29, expressed that while the decision was difficult because of his happiness and form at Saprissa, the opportunity to play in Indonesia represents a major professional and economic milestone.

Brenes noted that he will need to undergo medical tests and adapt to a new language and lifestyle. He expressed gratitude to the Saprissa fans and teammates for their support during his time with the club.
