Washington Primary Advances Incumbents, Sets Congressional Races
Incumbent Democrat Emily Randall captured more than 60% of the vote in Washington’s 6th Congressional District primary, with Republican Teresa Fox taking the second spot. Similar margins saw other incumbents leading in state legislative contests, such as Democrat Greg Nance in the 23rd District and Republican Dan Griffey in the 35th District.
In the statewide congressional tally, Suzan DelBene maintained a near‑50% lead in the 1st District, while other races, including the open 5th District, showed strong early leads for Republican Michael Baumgartner. Ballot‑drop data from King County indicated overall turnout approaching 37%, with close primary margins emerging in legislative districts like the 32nd Senate race between Jesse Salomon and Cindy Ryu.
These early results set the stage for November’s general election, confirming the advancement of top‑two candidates in each race and highlighting competitive contests for both federal and state seats across Washington.
