Jefferson Pérez seeks to unify Ecuadorian sports for Los Angeles 2028
Jefferson Pérez, president of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE), is focusing on unifying Ecuadorian sports in preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Pérez emphasized the need for teamwork and cohesion between elite sports, provincial federations, and student athletics to achieve better results.
Addressing financial challenges, Pérez noted that public resources are often insufficient, citing a lack of funding during his time as mission chief at the South American Youth Games in Panama. To mitigate these shortages, the COE is seeking increased support from the private sector and pursuing state alliances to equip sports venues. Additionally, Pérez expressed a goal to revive the Olympic Festival in Ecuador.
