Jeffrey Jeturian honored in FDCP Cinematheque retrospective

As part of Philippine Film Industry Month, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) hosted a retrospective honoring director Jeffrey Jeturian at the Cinematheque Centre Manila on September 10. The event was part of the FDCP’s monthly Cinematheque Director Series.

Jeturian, a graduate of the University of the Philippines Diliman, has established a career that spans mainstream television and social realism. His notable works include the television series ‘Be Careful With My Heart’ and the film ‘Ekstra’. His cinematic contributions often focus on the struggles of the working class and systemic societal issues.

The Manila showcase featured screenings of ‘Kubrador’ and ‘Tuhog’. ‘Kubrador’ depicts an illegal numbers game collector in urban poverty, while ‘Tuhog’ is a satire exploring human exploitation and fate. The screenings were followed by a talkback session moderated by film educator Seymour Sanchez.
