Anwar Ibrahim discusses AI ethics and rural technology access

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized the need to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Islamic education, stressing that technological advancements must be grounded in moral values and ethics. He suggested utilizing AI to modernize the teaching and understanding of the Quran to ensure the younger generation can effectively grasp its messages.

In a separate push for digital inclusion, Anwar highlighted the role of the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) in bringing AI and technology to rural areas. He noted that Malaysia is unique in deploying such facilities at the district level to prevent rural populations from being left behind by technological progress.

Addressing domestic political pressures, Sabah STAR president Jeffrey Kitingan urged the Prime Minister to fulfill the 40 per cent revenue entitlement for Sabah under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). Kitingan warned of potential political consequences if these constitutional rights are not implemented to address state issues like water and electricity shortages.

Additionally, Anwar responded to critics regarding gambling regulations, stating his administration has reduced the number of special lottery draws from 22 to eight annually to curb gaming activities. He also addressed corruption, noting that legal actions are necessary to recover public funds lost in previous scandals.
