Jehovah's Witnesses hold large international congress in Hamburg
Approximately 75,000 Jehovah's Witnesses gathered in Hamburg for a large-scale congress held between August 14 and 16. The event, themed ‘Eternal Happiness’, drew roughly 5,000 international guests from 25 different countries to the Volksparkstadion.
The gathering serves as a moment of reflection and remembrance. Organizers stated the congress aims to close a tragic chapter following a shooting incident at a Jehovah's Witnesses venue in Alsterdorf three years ago. Additionally, the event includes commemorations for victims of the Nazi regime, during which the group was persecuted for their opposition to the state.
Attendees were noted for wearing colorful traditional clothing and festive attire, contributing to a visible international presence throughout the city's public transport and streets during the weekend.
