Jeil Pharmaceutical reorganizes R&D center and appoints Jun-seok Park
Jeil Pharmaceutical has announced a major reorganization of its Central Research Institute, transitioning from a three-department structure to a two-center system: the Innovative New Drug Center and the Synthetic Research Center.
To lead this transition, the company appointed Jun-seok Park as the head of the Central Research Institute. Park, a drug development expert who previously worked at Daewoong Pharmaceutical and IN Therapeutics, was instrumental in developing drugs such as Fexuclue and Enblo. Other key appointments include Gi-sa Seong as head of the Innovative New Drug Center and Hye-jeong Kim as head of the Innovative New Drug Team.
The restructuring aims to integrate medicinal chemistry with pharmacology to accelerate the discovery of new drug candidates, particularly for cancer and age-related complex diseases. This move follows an increase in R&D investment, which rose to approximately 35.9 billion KRW in the first half of this year, representing 12.69% of revenue. The company is currently focusing on preclinical studies for its solid tumor cancer candidate, JP9441, and its idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis treatment candidate, JP10259.
