Jeju City develops local travel products with creators
Jeju City is implementing the ‘2026 Local Content Development Support Project’ to rediscover the value of rural resources and develop specialized village travel products. The initiative combines the unique assets of participating villages with the creative ideas of local content creators to establish a sustainable foundation for village tourism.
Six villages are participating in the project: Biyang-ri, Sanyang-ri, Obong-ri, Bukchon-ri, Haengwon-ri, and Gyorae-ri. Completed or ongoing test tours include firefly festivals in Sanyang-ri, fragrance experiences in Obong-ri, and overnight stays in Biyang-ri, which aims to create an ‘Olive Island’ using a donated 200-year-old olive tree. Gyorae-ri has also conducted sensory-focused tours involving soundwalking and aroma experiences.
Following these tests, Jeju City plans to select excellent proposals for commercialization and paid sales next year. Additionally, the city will host the ‘Judojeok Market’ pop-up store at the LPP local hub in the old downtown from October 29 to November 1, featuring 24 local brands to connect creators with consumers and boost the regional economy.
