Jeju City Forum 2026 to discuss urban regeneration

Jeju Province will host the ‘Jeju City Forum 2026’ from the 29th to the 31st at the Kim Man-deok Memorial Hall and the old downtown area of Jeju City. Co-hosted by the Jeju Urban Regeneration Support Center and the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation, the forum aims to review the achievements and limitations of the past decade of urban regeneration and establish a new direction focused on citizen daily life and regional sustainability.

The forum will consist of six sessions held over two days. Discussions will cover topics such as transforming urban regeneration policies, creating complex hubs for tourism and art in the old downtown, and designing public architecture that serves residents. Experts and field officials will explore implementation strategies to connect urban changes with resident lifestyles, including improving pedestrian environments and redesigning community-led regeneration systems.

In addition to policy discussions, the event includes citizen-participation programs. A ‘Urban Space Experiment Pop-up’ will operate from the 30th to the 31st, and the ‘2026 Jeju Old Downtown Autumn Picnic’ will take place on the 31st at the Sangsaeng Moru area. This family-oriented cultural event features various programs including flea markets, outdoor libraries, and guided tours to help citizens experience the potential of urban space transformation.
