Jeju enhances safety and accessibility for upcoming national sports events

Jeju authorities are intensifying safety and accessibility preparations ahead of major upcoming sporting events. The Jeju Autonomous Police completed inspections of 57 tourist sites and beaches to prevent illegal filming, focusing on restrooms and changing rooms using infrared and electromagnetic detection equipment. These efforts will expand to include venues for the National Para Games and the National Sports Festival to ensure athlete and spectator safety.

In preparation for the 46th National Para Games, scheduled for September 11–16, Jeju is implementing a ‘barrier-free’ strategy. This includes renovating 26 stadiums, installing elevators, wheelchair lifts, and ramps, and adding 52 accessible restrooms. To support the 9,141 participants, the province is coordinating increased flight capacities, dedicated rental car zones, and specialized transport. The event will also feature advanced technology, including AI-driven broadcasting and wearable robots.
