Jeju Island safety concerns rise as idol's knife chase story resurfaces

A past account from Seong Hyunwoo, a former Produce 101 Season 2 contestant and member of the group LIMITLESS, has resurfaced amid growing concerns regarding crime and safety on Jeju Island.

Hyunwoo recounted a chilling incident from February 2026 where a peaceful trip turned into a pursuit. While dining at a kalguksu restaurant, Hyunwoo witnessed a heavily intoxicated man verbally abusing a waitress, who appeared to be a foreign worker. When Hyunwoo politely requested that the man allow everyone to eat quietly, the individual allegedly became further enraged.

After the restaurant owner removed the man from the establishment, Hyunwoo left the premises. He was subsequently approached by the same man, who asked if he was “good at fighting” before revealing a sashimi knife with the handle tied to his wrist. Hyunwoo reported being chased through the streets by the armed man and stated the situation escalated too quickly for him to contact the police.
