Jeju Island updates NOWDA travel membership with new features
The Jeju Tourism Organization has announced a major update to ‘NOWDA’, the official travel membership platform for Jeju Island. Since its launch in September 2023, the service has grown to 360,000 subscribers and includes approximately 290 affiliated businesses, such as tourist attractions, cafes, and restaurants.
The revamped platform introduces a ‘badge system’ and ‘mission challenges’ to increase user engagement. Travelers can earn points and digital badges by scanning QR codes at affiliated locations. Reaching high levels of achievement can earn users local goods or regional currency, ‘Tamnanajeon’. A special ‘Jeju Master’ badge is awarded to those who visit 50 affiliated sites.
To attract international tourists, the service now supports English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and Japanese. The update also includes a safety feature with an ‘emergency report’ button that connects directly to 112 and 119 emergency services. The organization plans to expand partnerships to include car rentals and accommodations to encourage repeat visits.
