Jeju Leads Push for Greater Autonomy and Legislative Backing in South Korea

In a separate session, National Assembly Chair Jo Jung‑sik met with Jeju Governor Wi Seong‑gon and lawmakers to pledge parliamentary support for Jeju’s climate‑economy and AI‑driven future strategy. The discussion covered the island’s plan to become a “climate‑economy capital,” the establishment of AI data centers, and the urgent handling of legislation related to the historic 4·3 incident and Jeju’s special law amendments aimed at improving residents’ rights and transport subsidies.
