Jeju National Museum updates Kim Young-gap photography exhibition
The Jeju National Museum has updated its special photography exhibition, ‘Eternal Moment, Capturing Jeju,’ featuring the works of the late photographer Kim Young-gap. Starting November 3, the museum replaced 32 pieces to align with the autumn season, focusing on the island's volcanic cones, known as oreums.
The new selection highlights the eastern mid-mountain areas of Jeju, specifically featuring Yongnuni Oreum, a location Kim held in high regard. Other featured works include landscapes of ‘Cloud Hill’ north of Dunji Oreum, swaying trees, and the seas of Seogwipo. The exhibition aims to reflect the changing seasons, as the display runs from summer through March 1 of next year.
The exhibition showcases 177 items in total, including 94 black-and-white photographs, 64 color photographs, and the artist's personal belongings such as his cameras. This collection follows the donation of nearly 100,000 of Kim's works to the museum. Since its opening, the exhibition has attracted over 80,000 visitors.
