Jelena Žarić Kovačević rejects demands to delay school year

Jelena Žarić Kovačević, a member of the Presidency of the Serbian Progressive Party, has criticized demands from protesters to delay the start of the school year, labeling the request as “malicious and unserious.”

Žarić Kovačević argued that the move is an attempt to misuse educational institutions by using schools and faculties to form election headquarters. She further claimed that protesters intend to occupy these spaces to barricade themselves in the event of an election loss and aim to obstruct classes to create chaos within the Serbian education system.

She emphasized that the timely start of the school year is essential for security and to ensure a fair electoral process, stating that regular activities and obligations should not be suspended due to elections.
