Jelena Karleuša claims German club cancelled concert over Palestine comments

Singer Jelena Karleuša has disputed the reasons behind the cancellation of her scheduled October 31 performance at the Teatro Club in Essen, Germany. The club management issued a statement claiming the decision was made after considering Karleuša’s public stances regarding the current political situation in Serbia and her comments which they alleged “disparaged students.”

Karleuša countered these claims on social media, asserting that the cancellation was actually triggered by her comments regarding the display of foreign flags, specifically Palestinian flags, on Serbian public institution buildings. She clarified that while she sympathizes with the Palestinian people and condemns the suffering of children, she believes foreign flags should not be displayed on Serbian state buildings. She identified the club owner by the nickname “Suki” and accused him of making false connections between her remarks and student freedom movements.
