Jelena Milosevic presents Bake in Black exhibition in Milan

The Bake in Black solo exhibition by artist Jelena Milosevic is set to open at the Food Genius Academy in Milan on September 25. Curated by Flavia Vago, the project explores the concept of black not merely as a color, but as a transformative material and space.

The exhibition bridges the gap between contemporary art, gastronomy, and music. A central theme is the relationship between bread and ceramics, both of which are shaped by the application of heat. This connection is highlighted in the Kaolin installation, which features sixteen ceramic elements that replicate the imprints of real bread, turning ephemeral organic matter into permanent material memory.

The artist’s research also draws on the concept of alchemical Nigredo, representing a phase of dissolution that precedes transformation, viewing black as a generative principle where form begins to manifest.
