Latvian tennis star Jelena Ostapenko, the 30th seed, was eliminated in the first round after losing to Germany’s Tatjana Maria. Ostapenko took the first set 6-4, but Maria rallied to win the following two sets 6-1, 6-2. The match was initially interrupted by rain on Tuesday before being completed on Wednesday.
