Jelgava police fine scooter rider after high-speed chase
A man born in 2002 was issued multiple fines totaling 505 euros following a police chase on an electric scooter in Jelgava. The incident began when police spotted an unregistered Ultron scooter traveling at high speeds. Although the rider initially complied with orders to stop, he eventually fled, reaching speeds of up to 75 km/h.
The chase ended on Svētes iela, where the rider collided with a Dacia automobile, causing damage to the vehicle. No physical injuries were reported.
Investigations revealed several violations: speeding, crossing the roadway during a red light twice, driving without a valid license for any vehicle category, operating an unregistered scooter, and driving without mandatory civil liability insurance. The State Police have initiated seven administrative offense processes regarding these infractions.
