Jelgava Regional Tourism Center hosts Vecpilsētas iela festival and night lantern hike

The Jelgava Regional Tourism Center (JRTC) invites residents and visitors to the annual Vecpilsētas iela street festival on Saturday, 15 August. The day‑long event will cover the whole historic quarter with a bird party, a crafts market, free green ball activities, exhibitions of a restored RAF micro‑bus and the iconic car from the film “Mirāža”, a historic photo display, guided tours, and a programme for children that includes a farm‑animal zoo, inflatable rides, a miniature train, creative workshops and a paper‑theatre performance.

JRTC also promotes a night‑time “Lantern Hike” on 29 August in the Pilssala meadow near the Lielupe River. Led by guide Einārs Nordmans, participants will walk for three hours from 21:00 to midnight, learning about wild horses, rare plants and birds. The fee is €3, free for preschool‑age children. Registration is required via e‑mail, and participants are asked to bring flashlights and suitable clothing.
