Jelgava to host water tourism development seminar
A seminar titled ‘Water Tourism Trends in Zemgale’ is scheduled to take place on August 19 at the Jelgava Water Tourism and Sports Base. The event aims to strengthen the development of water-based tourism in the Zemgale region by introducing entrepreneurs, tourism information center representatives, and industry experts to new digital opportunities and practical solutions for destination creation.
Participants will learn about the tourism potential of Zemgale, the results of the ‘WaterTour’ project, and the functionalities of the ‘upesoga.lv’ water tourism portal. The program includes presentations from representatives of the Jelgava Regional Tourism Centre and the Zemgale and Kurzeme planning regions, as well as experience sharing regarding successful water tourism offerings. The event also includes a tour of the Jelgava facility and an introduction to the leisure boat ‘Mītava’.
The seminar is organized by the Kurzeme Planning Region as part of the ‘WaterWays’ project, which is implemented under the Interreg VI-A Latvia-Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021–2027.
