Jelle Geens and Natalie Van Coevorden win Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie
Belgian triathlete Jelle Geens secured his first victory of the season at the Ironman 70.3 Port Macquarie in Australia. Geens, a two-time Ironman 70.3 world champion, took control during the 90km cycling leg after early leader Josh Ferris crashed out. He finished the race with a time of 3:44:34, finishing more than two minutes ahead of runner-up Kieran Storch and third-place Mitchell Kibby.
In the women's division, Australian Olympian Natalie Van Coevorden successfully defended her title. Despite facing difficult weather conditions on the bike and trailing Emily Watts by nearly four minutes entering the run, Van Coevorden overtook Watts in the final 5km. She completed the course in 4:16:40, securing her fifth win of the year. Demi Birch rounded out the podium in third place.
