Jellyfish Museum opens in Pompano Beach, Florida

The Jellyfish Museum, a private attraction located in Pompano Beach, Florida, is believed to be the first museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to jellyfish. The facility features saltwater tanks where visitors can observe the translucent invertebrates in a dark environment illuminated by projections and tank lighting.

The museum was established by Alex and Yana Yanovsky, who previously operated successful aquariums in Kyiv, Ukraine. The couple relocated to Florida after fleeing Ukraine following the 2022 Russian invasion. This museum represents their first aquatic venture since immigrating to the United States.

Founders noted that jellyfish are highly resilient creatures that have existed for over 500 million years. Despite lacking a brain or heart, they utilize a simple nerve net to interact with their surroundings and play a vital role in marine ecosystems.
