Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait expands local healthcare access

Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait, also known as Gus Fawait, has taken several steps to improve medical access for residents in the Jember Regency. On October 10, 2026, he personally visited the home of a 71-year-old woman in Sumberbaru suffering from chronic foot ulcers to ensure she received proper medical attention. Following coordination between various regional agencies, the patient was successfully transferred to RSD dr. Soebandi for intensive care.

In a separate initiative, the Regent officially inaugurated the Grand Medika Silo Clinic in Sempolan Village, Silo District. He emphasized that the presence of private health facilities helps reduce the distance residents must travel for treatment. Fawait stated that no citizen should be unable to access clinics, community health centers, or hospitals due to financial constraints.

To support these efforts, the local government utilizes programs such as Homecare services and the 'Mobil Cinta' free transport service for underprivileged patients. The Regent has also instructed local officials, including sub-district heads and village apparatus, to proactively monitor vulnerable residents to ensure they do not miss necessary medical care.
