Jena Hanson crowned 73rd Princess Kay of the Milky Way
Jena Hanson, a 20-year-old student from Owatonna, has been crowned the 73rd Princess Kay of the Milky Way. Representing Steele County, Hanson will serve as a year-long goodwill ambassador for Minnesota dairy farm families.
During the competition, ten candidates vied for the title. Isabella Schiffler and Jaiden Smith, both representing Stearns County, were named runners-up. Scholarship winners included Hanson, Schiffler, and Claudia Frenchick of Meeker County, while Jaiden Smith received the Miss Congeniality award.
Hanson's first official duty involves the traditional butter carving at the Minnesota State Fair. She will sit in a cooler while a sculptor recreates her likeness using a 90-pound block of butter. Her reign will include public appearances, classroom visits, and speaking engagements focused on the nutritional benefits of dairy and environmental sustainability in farming.
