Jena Südbad Parking Closed for Thursday Football Derby

The parking lot of Jena's Südbad pool will be completely closed on Sunday because of the Thüringen derby between FC Carl Zeiss Jena and Rot‑Weiß Erfurt. Visitors are asked to use public transport, walk or cycle, and short‑term access restrictions may affect routes in the Oberaue area, though the pool and beach bar will stay open.

Three local sewing groups – ThINKA, the Wandlungswelten sewing studio and Café 13 of the Diakonie – are providing hand‑made scarves for newborns to the city’s first‑visit service. The groups seek donations of cotton, terry cloth or muslin fabric to continue the initiative.

A free baroque music vesper titled “French Connection” will be held on Saturday, 8 August, at the Friedenskirche, featuring Duo Io (Monica Ripamonti on cembalo and Peter Haischer on baroque oboe and recorder).
