Jennifer Garner Stars in Peacock's New Series “The Five‑Star Weekend”
Peacock launched the eight‑episode drama The Five‑Star Weekend on July 9, adapting Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel of the same name. The series follows food‑influencer Hollis Shaw (Jennifer Garner), a widowed chef‑author who invites four friends from different phases of her life to her Nantucket beach house in an effort to cope with her husband’s sudden death.
Garner also serves as an executive producer and contributed personal insights drawn from her own experiences growing up in West Virginia and navigating fame. The ensemble cast includes D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Harlow Jane and Timothy Olyphant. Production was shot on location in Nantucket, Massachusetts, with additional studio work in Los Angeles. A companion podcast hosted by Hilderbrand accompanies the series throughout July.
Critics have praised the series for its picturesque island setting, Garner’s performance, and its focus on grief, friendship and motherhood. While the storyline diverges in places from the source novel, the show remains faithful to the core premise of gathering friends from distinct life stages to confront personal loss.
