Jenniffer González Colón elected president of Southern States Energy Board

Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González Colón has been elected president of the Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) for the 2026–2027 term. The election took place during the organization’s 66th Annual Meeting held in Biloxi, Mississippi.

González Colón succeeds Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, who served as president for the 2025–2026 period. The Governor stated that her administration's priority is to transform the energy system into one that is resilient, diverse, and affordable to bolster infrastructure and attract investment. She noted that these efforts align with the public policies of the Trump administration and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

The SSEB is a non-profit interstate organization established in 1960 to promote economic development and quality of life through energy and environmental policy innovation. During her term, the 67th annual meeting is scheduled to be held in Puerto Rico.
