Jenny Gilruth highlights Edinburgh festivals as showcase for Scotland

Deputy First Minister and Finance Secretary Jenny Gilruth said Edinburgh’s festivals provide a global platform for Scottish artists and attract hundreds of thousands of visitors, delivering significant economic benefits and reinforcing Scotland’s image as an open, welcoming nation. She will attend the opening concert of the Edinburgh International Festival alongside public finance minister Hannah Mary Goodlad.

The Scottish Government plans to increase culture funding by £100 million annually by 2028‑29, aiming to expand the opportunities for talent across the country.
