Jenny McCarthy recalls Scientology encounters at Tom Cruise wedding

Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg has shared new recollections regarding the 2006 wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in Italy. Speaking on her podcast, McCarthy described several uncomfortable encounters involving the Church of Scientology.

McCarthy, who was dating Jim Carrey at the time, alleged that Cruise attempted to recruit both her and Carrey into the organization. She noted that Carrey had previously declined invitations to Cruise’s home in Aspen to avoid being “lured” into the church.

During the rehearsal dinner, McCarthy recounted a moment where she asked to hold the couple’s infant daughter, Suri. She claimed the room fell silent and guests gave her what she described as the “Scientology stare,” comparing the atmosphere to the film “Rosemary’s Baby.”

Additionally, McCarthy observed a shift in Katie Holmes’ demeanor as the marriage progressed, stating that Holmes eventually appeared “like a deer in headlights.” She also noted the contrast between the wedding speeches, highlighting that Scientology leader David Miscavige served as the best man and delivered a 30-minute speech regarding the couple.
