Jenny the mare sets Guinness World Record for longest horse tail

Jenny, an American Saddlebred mare living in Spring Valley, Ohio, has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the longest horse tail. Measuring 412.62 centimeters, the tail surpassed a record that had been held since 2007.

Owned by Mackenzie Lowe and Rachel Estes, Jenny has undergone years of specialized care to maintain the record-breaking length. The grooming process is extensive, requiring approximately four to five hours once a month to wash, condition, dry, and re-braid the hair. To prevent damage and dirt, the tail is often kept in a protective bag and braided loosely at the root.

Lowe, who received Jenny as a thirteenth birthday gift in 2019, noted that the mare is frequently a center of attention at equestrian exhibitions throughout Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky.
