Jenny's Kindergarten in Bathurst to close due to safety breaches
Jenny's Kindergarten and Early Learning Centre in Bathurst will permanently close on October 13, 2026, after losing its provider approval. The NSW Early Learning Commission revoked the approval following investigations into multiple ongoing serious breaches and child safety risks.
Since opening in 2014, the centre has undergone 14 inspections resulting in 41 compliance actions and 126 confirmed breaches. While authorities stated there is no current evidence of direct harm to any child, the closure was mandated due to the level of risk posed by persistent non-compliance.
Identified issues include unsafe premises, furniture, and equipment, such as exposed electrical cords and excessive debris. Other concerns cited by regulators include the presence of sharp objects in garden beds, staff using personal devices, and failures to conduct proper risk assessments before excursions.
