Jens Spahn appointed to Bundestag Budget Committee

The Budget Committee is one of the most influential bodies within the Bundestag, as it holds the authority to approve federal ministry budgets, allocate credits, and manage departmental staffing. Spahn brings previous experience to this role, having served as a parliamentary state secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance from 2015 to 2018.

His appointment follows his resignation as parliamentary group leader in mid-July. Some critics have raised concerns regarding his previous management of pandemic-related expenditures, specifically citing the procurement of face masks during his tenure as health minister.
