Jenson Button urges Formula 1 to halt race calendar expansion

Former Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button has expressed concerns regarding the continued expansion of the F1 racing calendar. Speaking at the Milken Institute Asia Summit in Singapore, Button argued that the current schedule of 24 races is already extremely demanding.

While noting that drivers can travel via private jets, Button highlighted the disproportionate burden placed on mechanics and technical staff. He noted that these workers face intense logistical challenges, including the exhausting process of dismantling equipment and returning immediately to factories, which results in significant time away from their families.

Button observed that the number of races has grown significantly from 17 during his 2009 championship season to the current record of 24 under Liberty Media ownership. He stated, “24 races around the world is really, really tough. So I wouldn’t want to see any more.”
