Jeollanam-do Medical Association hosts mobile clinic for foreign workers
The Jeollanam-do Medical Association operated a mobile clinic in Naju to improve healthcare accessibility for 208 foreign workers. The initiative, part of the ‘2026 Foreigner Safe Hospital’ project, provided medical services to workers who often face language barriers or difficulty visiting hospitals during weekdays.
The program included nine different services, such as tuberculosis screenings, primary medical consultations, flu vaccinations, blood tests, and health education. To minimize the burden on workers, a ‘one-step’ blood testing method was implemented, allowing for follow-up tests using previously collected samples if abnormalities are detected. Additionally, the clinic offered visa counseling, hair styling services, and snacks.
Supported by 14 organizations and 84 volunteers, including interpreters to assist with communication, the event aimed to bridge gaps in medical care. Following the screenings, participants with abnormal results will receive guidance via a multi-language call center and may be linked to medical expense support through the Foreigner Safe Hospital program. Future mobile clinics are scheduled for Mokpo Medical Center on October 25 and Suncheon Medical Center on November 1.
