Jeonnam-Gwangju agricultural and fishery exports hit record high

Agricultural and fishery product exports from the Jeonnam-Gwangju region reached a record high of $676.27 million through July this year, representing a 10% increase compared to the same period last year. This marks a 53.1% growth over the past three years.

Fishery products accounted for 54.5% of total exports ($368.54 million), with seaweed (gim) serving as a major driver, contributing $289.60 million or 42.8% of the total value. Agricultural products followed at 36.6% ($247.73 million), while livestock and forestry products made up the remainder.

Key export markets include Japan ($129.46 million), the United States ($119.35 million), China ($113.08 million), and Taiwan ($43.58 million). Locally, Mokpo recorded the highest export volume at $127.40 million, followed by Buk-gu, Naju, Goheung, Sinan, and Wando.
