Jeonnam Gwangju Forest Research Institute to develop forest therapy for cancer patients
The Jeonnam Gwangju Forest Research Institute is collaborating with Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital to develop customized forest therapy programs designed to support the physical and emotional recovery of cancer patients.
Through a convergence research initiative, the institute will scientifically verify the effects of forest environments on patients' well-being. The project will utilize the hospital's existing 'healing forest' to create programs tailored to the specific physical conditions, psychological characteristics, and treatment processes of cancer patients. The research institute will also provide expertise in vegetation management and environmental improvements to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for users.
This initiative builds on the institute's extensive experience in forest welfare services, which reached nearly 6,000 people this year through various programs. The institute aims to establish a new healing model by integrating medical services with forest welfare through continued cooperation with medical institutions and local organizations.
