Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Education Office proposes relocation support

The Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Office of Education has submitted an ordinance to provide temporary financial support to public officials and staff whose workplaces changed due to the administrative integration.

The proposed ordinance targets employees whose work locations have moved outside the previous jurisdictions of Gwangju or Jeonnam, provided they meet specific criteria set by the Superintendent. Support may include relocation costs, housing expenses, and actual costs for transportation required for long-distance commuting.

While specific payment amounts and methods are to be determined by the Superintendent, the ordinance aims to apply retroactively to July 1, the date the integrated education office was established. Currently, 15 officials have been affected by the change in workplace, primarily those assigned to public relations or the integrated city council. The number of eligible employees is expected to increase following future personnel appointments.
