Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Education Office resumes new headquarters construction
The Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special Metropolitan Office of Education has announced plans to resume the construction of a new administrative headquarters in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. The project involves an investment of 129.8 billion KRW to build a six-story facility, which is expected to be completed by the first half of 2030.
The new headquarters is intended to serve as a strategic hub for future education and industrial talent cultivation, specifically linking educational curricula with the semiconductor industry being developed in the Gwangsan-gu military airport area. This move aims to address the limitations of the current aging facilities and manage the increased administrative demands following the integration of the Gwangju and Jeonnam education offices.
In a related development, the integrated education office will host its first large-scale Education Supplies Fair in Suncheon from September 30 to October 2. The event features 75 companies, 84% of which are local businesses, showcasing products ranging from AI and edutech to laboratory equipment and school furniture. The initiative aims to expand the market reach of regional companies within the public education sector.
