Jeonnam-Gwangju integration celebrated with religious and youth events
Various community events are being organized to celebrate the integration of Jeonnam and Gwangju into a single special city.
A large-scale religious prayer meeting, the ‘2026 Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Union Holy Assembly’, is scheduled for November 1 at Geumnam-ro, Gwangju. Organized by the Jeonnam-Gwangju branch of the National Gospel Movement, the event aims to gather 100,000 believers to pray for regional harmony, church revival, and the successful integration of the two regions. The assembly serves as a precursor to a larger national gospel movement planned for 2027.
Additionally, the ‘2026 Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Youth Festival’, themed ‘PIPAFE’, will take place on the 12th at the National Asia Culture Center (ACC) Sky Garden. This youth-led festival includes a conference on youth policy and regional solidarity, featuring performances by buskers and DJs. The event facilitates networking between youth from Jeonnam, Gwangju, and Daegu to foster regional cooperation following the administrative integration.
