Jeonnam-Gwangju Office of Education to launch regional joint academic test

The Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Office of Education will launch the nation’s first ‘Jeonnam-Gwangju Regional Joint Academic Achievement Test’ in September 2025. This new initiative aims to consolidate previous separate mock exams held by Gwangju and Jeonnam to better prepare high school seniors for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT).

Unlike previous local mock exams that only provided question papers and answer keys, the new system will feature computerized OMR grading and provide individual score analysis reports. This will allow students to identify specific weaknesses across all CSAT subjects, including Korean, Mathematics, English, Korean History, Social Studies, and Science.

The education office plans to establish a dedicated question-setting headquarters and implement a high-level computerized grading system similar to that used by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation. Following the initial rollout for high school seniors in 2025, the program will expand to include 10th and 11th graders in 2028, with the goal of becoming a host for national joint academic achievement tests by 2029.
