Jeonnam-Gwangju secures 1,032 spots in Korea’s top attractions project

Jeonnam-Gwangju has been recognized as a major tourism hub in South Korea, with 1,032 local sites selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘Korea Representative Attractions 100x100’ project. This total ranks the region fourth nationwide, following Seoul, Gyeongbuk, and Gangwon.

Several sites from the region secured spots in the top 10 overall rankings based on public votes and expert recommendations. These include the Suncheonman National Garden (6th), Damyang Juknokwon (7th), Suncheonman Bay (8th), and the Damyang Metasequoia Road (9th).

The selected attractions span various categories, including ecology, leisure, gastronomy, and culture. Notable mentions include Mudeungsan National Park, Boseong Green Tea Fields, Sinan Purple Island, and the Mokpo Marine Cable Car, alongside cultural landmarks such as the Gwangju Yangrim Modern History and Culture Village.
