Jeonnam Student Sports and Culture Festival concludes in Gurye-gun

The 2026 Jeonnam Student Sports and Culture Festival concluded successfully in Gurye-gun, held from September 11 to 19. Organized by the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Office of Education, the event saw the participation of 6,583 elementary, middle, and high school students.

Centered around the 20th Superintendent's Cup School Sports Club Competition, the festival featured 26 different sporting disciplines, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and dodgeball. This event held particular significance as the final school sports club competition involving students from 22 cities and counties across the Jeonnam region prior to the scheduled 2027 Gwangju-Jeonnam integrated games.

Beyond traditional athletics, the festival offered diverse experiential programs. Students participated in activities such as VR virtual reality sports, AI Go, golf swing and putting, rocket bowling, and AR shooting experiences. Career-related cultural programs, including hair and makeup, nail art, and barista training, were also provided through collaborations with local institutions like Jeonnam Beauty High School and Mokpo University.
