Jeopardy! launches ESPN sports edition and other brand extensions
Sony Pictures Television is expanding the long‑running game show Jeopardy! with several new spin‑offs aimed at younger viewers. A ten‑episode, sports‑focused series called “ESPN Jeopardy!” premiered on Disney+, Hulu and the ESPN app on Friday, hosted by sportscaster Joe Buck and featuring celebrities and ESPN personalities as contestants.
Other recent extensions include “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” now hosted by Colin Jost and moving to Netflix for its second season, and a special YouTube episode that paired drag queen Monét X Change with singer Rebecca Black and comedian Brennan Lee Mulligan. The company also continues “Celebrity Jeopardy!” on ABC and maintains the syndicated nightly edition that remains the most‑watched entertainment program for the 2025‑26 TV season, averaging 8.3 million viewers.
These moves are part of a broader strategy, led by Sony’s game‑show president Suzanne Prete and executive producer Michael Davies, to attract a younger audience to a franchise whose median viewer age is 70.
