Jepara Regency Launches QRIS-Based E-Parking System to Boost Local Revenue
On 27 July 2026, Jepara Regency in Indonesia officially launched an electronic parking payment system that uses the QRIS digital payment platform at 18 locations on Jalan Diponegoro and the city’s Chinatown area. The system records every transaction in real time, aiming to increase transparency of parking fee collection and curb illegal "pungli" charges.
The rollout is tied to a regional revenue goal of 1.5 billion rupiah from parking fees for the year, with officials noting that about half of that target had already been achieved. Regent Witiarso Utomo, Head of the Transport Department Deni Hendarko, and traffic officer Widarso stressed that the program's success depends on parking attendants’ adherence to the new digital process. Bank Jateng Jepara’s branch manager Nanang Wahyudi attended a technical briefing, urging consistent implementation to ensure lasting benefits for the community.
