Jequié criminal hearing task force issues 217 sentences

A criminal hearing task force in Jequié, Bahia, issued 217 sentences during its first five days of operation, running from August 24 to August 28. Out of 243 total hearings conducted during this initial week, 22 were rescheduled and four were converted into diligence.

The judicial initiative is scheduled to continue at the Bertino Passos Forum until September 4, with a total of 503 hearings planned over the ten-day period. The operation utilizes eight rooms operating in two shifts and involves judges, court staff, the Public Ministry, the Public Defender's Office, lawyers, and the Military and Civil Police.

For cases involving incarcerated defendants, virtual sessions are being held in specialized rooms at the Jequié Penal Complex. Coordinators Leandro Florêncio Rocha and Thaís Kronemberger noted that the results are due to the integrated efforts of various institutions and the temporary reassignment of professionals from different judicial units to support the task force.
