Jere Karalahti prepares for boxing match against Mika Ilmen

Former ice hockey player Jere Karalahti is preparing for his second boxing match, scheduled for September 12 against Mika ‘Immu’ Ilmen. The upcoming bout is marked by significant personal tension between the two competitors.

During a press conference, Karalahti wore a t-shirt featuring an image of Ilmen spreading sand on an ice rink, a reference to a story from Ilmen’s childhood. Karalahti also suggested the imagery alluded to Ilmen’s recent behavior, claiming Ilmen had discussed Karalahti’s previous legal troubles in his own podcasts.

Karalahti, who was previously sentenced to a suspended prison term for a serious drug offense, stated that disciplined sports serve as a way for him to stay on the right track. He noted that while his lifestyle and health were suboptimal during his previous match against Matias Niemi, he is now focused on using this fight as a way to redeem himself athletically.
