Jeremiah Smith and Jesse Legree lead Heisman Trophy race
Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith remains the favorite for the Heisman Trophy, though his winning probability has decreased from 55% to 42%. This shift follows a shoulder injury to Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin, which may be season-ending and could impact Smith's offensive production.
Oregon State freshman wide receiver Jesse Legree is also emerging as a major contender. Legree has recorded 46 catches for 1,040 yards and 14 touchdowns through seven games, a historic pace for a freshman. He currently holds the fifth-best odds in the nation to win the award.
Other top contenders in the Heisman race include Miami quarterback Darian Mensah, whose probability rose to 21%, and Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who saw his odds increase to 13%.
