Jeremy Clarkson and David Cameron credited with driving prostate cancer awareness

Prostate Cancer UK has identified the ‘Clarkson-Cameron effect’ following the prostate cancer diagnoses of Jeremy Clarkson and former Prime Minister David Cameron. The announcements prompted a significant surge in men using the charity’s 30-second online risk checker.

Following Clarkson’s announcement, weekly usage of the risk checker rose from 8,425 to nearly 50,880. Similarly, the day after David Cameron revealed his diagnosis, 22,562 men used the tool, compared to 2,175 the previous Monday. The charity noted that these increased assessments have led to early diagnoses that have saved lives.

Jeremy Clarkson, who shared his diagnosis during the series ‘Clarkson’s Farm’, is currently in remission. He expressed gratitude for his early detection and encouraged other men to assess their risk, stating that the process takes only a few minutes and could be life-saving.
